The former Greenwich Town Hall which was in use until 1965. The new building was designed by Clifford Culpin in the Art Deco style, built by William Moss & Sons and was completed in 1939. You don’t expect such a proper and modern little church in a proper little village while passing by: Evangelische Christuskirche in Waldhilsbach built in 1955/56.

A modern and colourful beauty shining in the evening sun that I discovered while passing by: Southgate Fire Station from 1959 built by the architects department of Middlesex County Council. Alongside the fire engine bay are offices, a garage, fire crew facilities and a drill tower. (Thank you @mod_in_metro) While I was taking photos a friendly smiling young lady came out of the building inviting me to come in and take photos of the fire engine inside the garage because this is obviously the reason why people are taking photos here. Unfortunately I declined the offer and explained to her that I am only interested in the beautiful building. She looked very surprised and said „Oh, our fire station from the 60s!“ while she was walking back into the building she was probably thinking: Crazy tourists!

Southgate Tube Station on the Piccadilly Line is a masterpiece of the many stations Charles Holden designed for the London Underground during the 1920s and 1930s. Holden was born on this day 148 years ago May 12th 1875. His station designs for London Underground became the corporation's standard design influencing designs by all architects working for the organisation in the 1930s. Southgate Station from 1933 is built in the Art Deco/Streamline Moderne design style using brick, reinforced concrete and glass. The whole building is topped by an illuminated feature resembling a Tesla coil, designed to look as if it is taken from Frankenstein's laboratory (wikipedia).

Last Sunday I traveled back in time.
